This smiling portrait of a young boy proud of his role as trombonist in the town band is captured by Pascucci with a well-chosen, non-traditional photographic framing and rich pasty colours applied to the canvas with generous dabs of the brush. The painting thus presents a vibrant effect of a composite, diverse palette of colours carefully balanced with skilful harmony: the cardinal red next to the olive-green curtain on the left introduces the grey suit and beret of the boy, and against all of this reverberates the brass of his trombone, indicating that this instrument is his treasure.
